I’ve been talking about the Paper Bag Waist Trend for a few months now and I was just finally able to find a pair that I really liked.
When it comes to What Derria Would Wear… I keep it simple… and Chic!
If you haven’t already noticed I love clothes and when it comes to styling my looks for outfit posts there are times I want to put my edgy style out there but there are also times that I keep it simple yet chic. Its really important to me to have a well rounded wardrobe. So even on my chill days I’m still stylishly chic.
As you may know I am relocating from North Carolina to Los Angeles this month and it has been very tough trying to pack up all my clothes in boxes and also in suitcases. It clear I wont have access to my clothes all at one time so I’m currently going through everything and choosing pieces that I can wear multiple ways until I get everything in the mail. Talk about stressed. I know it wont be too bad though.
Below is a look that can be worn Three different ways.
Look #1: As an oversized dress by itself with my Comme Des Garcon x Converse sneakers. (or any neutral sneaker)
Look #2: Pictured below with the dress and denim skirt layered to provide an edginess.
Look #3: Skirt tied up or draped over the denim skirt. Each look can give different vibes.
More outfit details below, check it out let me know what you think!

I sure could use a vacation on the shore of somebody’s beach, but until then I’ll envision myself in a bikini with my jersey cover-up.
Better yet lets talk about how Athletic wear is making its way into the wardrobes of many. A few years back I was thrift shopping at my local Goodwill and saw a pair of baseball pants and two random football/basketball jerseys. I didn’t know what I would use them for just yet but I forecasted that they would eventually be a trend. I used the pants for a shoot about two years ago that I paired with a crop top and a vintage Letterman jacket.
Shopping is so therapeutic for me but I also consider myself an impulse shopper as well… that isn’t really conducive to my bank account. The Vintage bag featured in this post was most certainly an impulse buy. But I recently decided to go on a 14- day spending fast from July 1st to July 14th. I cannot spend money on material things, i.e. clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. Whew this is going to be tough!
Vertical stripes definitely are my new thing, I could definitely use more of a taller and slimmer look. The stripes I’ve worn in this post and my previous post have done just that.
Back from Cuba and it’s time to get back to blogging regularly. I will say I’m still trying to catch up on sleep/rest. Traveling can be very tiring.
For the sake of travel, it’s always my goal to travel and be comfortable but stylish at the same time…. this is the same for the gym. All of my gym clothes are cute and match for the most part. But there are times that I just want to wear my gym clothes even though I’m not going to the gym and I’m okay with that. In the fashion world the popular term for it is “Athleisure”. Casual, comfortable clothing designed for both exercise and everyday wear.
I’ve talked a lot on my Snapchat about how disappointed I was with the selection the past two years at HM. I will admit the last few months thing have gotten better. Instead of only seeing zilch, I have seen a few pieces that I have incorporated into my current wardrobe.
There are times when I really just want to be comfy and cute at the same time and this was one of those times. You’ll probably see me in this look while traveling or just out shopping on a cooler day if it will ever get cold anytime soon. I snagged this cute one piece off Urban Outfitters clearance online. My all time favorite faux leather jacket from the Target x Who What Wear Collection was the final touch.
How many many more shades of green can you get in this look, I mean really? Honestly and truthfully Olive is one of my favorite hues. Its definitely been my color of choice this year, and after seeing this jacket at the beginning of Summer took that love to another level. This jacket was originally $100+ and I knew for sure I wasn’t going to pay anywhere close to that. I waited and waited until I found out they were going to have a Columbus Day sale and boom! I snagged this baby for $23!!! Win! I ended up buying the matching pants and that brought the whole look together. Check out this look below!
