What Would Derria Wear?: Dress Up to Dress Down

When you think of Business Casual or Dress clothes, do you think about pinstripes?

I sure do!  But I Dress Up to Dress  down when it comes to my wardrobe. And mixing up your casual and business clothes can be fun and challenging.

A casual band T-shirt with a pinstripe wrap skirt is how I approached this trend. And of course outfits under $50 or $100 are always the goal.

My cut off band T-Shirt is from HM it only ran me about $18. But I always use a 20% off text coupon so it was most likely a little less. The wrap skirt.. $7! What’s crazy is I saw it in another Forever 21 store for Regular price $15 and when I was at another location I found it on the sale rack for half price! Frugal Shopaholic Luck!

Glasses are Buffalo Exchange of course, probably the only place in-store next to Forever 21 that I buy glasses. Surprisingly my bag is from TJ Maxx. For those of you who continue to sleep on TJ Maxx… keep on so I can round up all the cute stuff for my own wardrobe.

Last but not least my heels. They are Cape Robbin brand and I got them from Nordstrom Rack for under $30. You should definitely frequent Nordstrom Rack online. They have some of the best brands for really low prices, I just wish they had free shipping!

Work of Art- How I Mix Vintage Into My Wardrobe

Shopping is so therapeutic for me but I also consider myself an impulse shopper as well… that isn’t really conducive to my bank account. The Vintage bag featured in this post was most certainly an impulse buy. But I recently decided to go on a 14- day spending fast from July 1st to July 14th. I cannot spend money on material things, i.e. clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. Whew this is going to be tough!

Draped in Stripes.

Vertical stripes definitely are my new thing, I could definitely use more of a taller and slimmer look. The stripes I’ve worn in this post and my previous post have done just that.

TheGetDown.

I am a huge fan of wide leg high waist pants. I originally purchased these pants from Target for work to put some variety in my work wardrobe but I quickly noticed that they could work for both work and play and paired with my ruffle denim top… its definitely play!

No Thanks!

Im back! I took a brief hiatus. Its such a struggle working full time and having a passion for other things outside of work. If you have a business or a blog I know you feel where I am coming from.  But I’m not complaining whatsoever, because I love being busy. If I’m not at work then I am shopping for myself or my clients which keeps life interesting.

BackToTheFuture.

It’s 12 am Wednesday morning… and I’m drawing a blank. Have you ever just felt so drained by everything? With work, blogging and keeping up with loved ones, I feel like I’m 5 different women and they are all tired.

It’s from Zara and it’s Men’s. It fits loose in the crotch area but tight on my legs and thighs, perfect boyfriend fit!

Mini Black Friday Haul

I shop year round, weekly and daily sometimes. I shop to find new stuff but the goal is to be able to replace items that I don’t really wear often or at all. So I shop with that in mind and once I find items that I’m sold on, I go home and start filling up an Ikea bag with items I plan on selling to Buffalo Exchange so I can make the money that I’ve spent right back! Not only do my pockets feel better so do I!

Admit One: Band Tee Style Series Part Two

img_2554

You’d never believe me if i told you that I’ve been sitting on the items worn in this post for a few months now… but its the honest truth. I have a habit of buying really cute items and waiting sometimes weeks and months for the right time to wear or blog it. First things first you need at least one pair of thigh high boots in your wardrobe, you can wear them any season just about. Grab a open-toe pair for the Summer and a closed toe pair for the Fall/Winter months. I randomly snagged mine from Windsor online late this summer for really reasonable price. Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice!

I am one of those shoppers that shops multiple times a week every week because I feel like Ill miss out on something good. So the weeks that I snagged these items was a win! The vintage Tee I got for $18 bucks at Buffalo Exchange after selling two ikea bags full of my clothes so essentially it was free. My pants were from Rugged Warehouse for $2.99 regular price.  Had to bring in the hottest trend in right now… a Lace up waist belt. The best part of this look were my boots. I’ve grown to loveeeeee Circus By Sam Edelman. The shoes and accessories from him line are so cute and edgy. My boots are from Marhsall’s and were an absolute steal $40. Check out how I put this look together below and where to get these items.  Continue reading “Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice!”
