Everyone knows California’s weather throughout the year is a mixture between light fall, spring and hot summer. This is look is a direct reflection of my love for California’s weather. The light weight faux leather jacket is from the WhoWhatWear for Target line. My weekly shopping trip to TJMaxx revealed a hidden jewel amongst it New Arrivals… a Kendall&Kylie pleated shirt dress. My lovely fur slides were a DIY Project I did about a week ago. You can check out that post here.

I really felt like a modern day chic Where’s Waldo? in this striped T-shirt dress. Originally when I saw it in Forever21 I thought it was just an oversized T-shirt. But to my surprise after looking online I found out it was T-shirt dress! The coat I snagged it off the sale rack at Zara in FL. Its so light and comfortable. The bag was my favorite part of this look. I happened to run across it on Polyvore and to my luck it was on sale at JCP.com for $18. My Converse sneakers are a wardrobe staple. I’ve also heard that the “dirtier they are.. the better”.
Neck Scarves is the new up and coming trend for the Spring. As Fashion Bloggers we like to stay ahead of the game and the is by far one of the most easiest and frugal trends to take advantage of. In addition I’ve seen several other fashion blogger pull off this trend without a hitch. It adds a little flare to your most simple look.
First step is to plug in and heat up your glue gun, then cut off excess yarn/string from your boa. Second, once your glue gun is hot you will need to line the front of your slide sandal with hot glue. Once done quickly lay the first row of boa onto the glue.
Make sure its firmly placed. Repeat this for both sandals and allow to dry. Lastly, you will want to trim the excess fur from the sides so that it doesn’t drag when you wear them.
Tada! There you have it a pair of your very own furry slides!
Everyone knows my love for THE Erykah Badu. Word out on the Fashion Streets is that the former Givenchy campaign star will be styling Pyer Moss’s Fall 2016 collection. She will be teaming up with the brand’s designer Kerby Jean-Raymond for the show on February 13th. This runway show will definitely be a mixture of fashion, politics and music, a direct reflection of his Spring 2016 collection which incorporated and highlighted Police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. I am looking forward to Badu’s soulful touch to the collection. I haven’t made it to NYFW just yet but its on my vision board and I couldn’t be happier that my favorite artist will have her hand in a great production.
Very often do I hear fellow female shoppers say they don’t like shopping at Forever 21 because everyone shops there and they don’t want to look like everyone else. The art of putting clothes together and styling your wardrobe starts with basic and unique items from stores like Forever 21 and HM. With that said I recently had a really successful clothes haul at Forever 21. Below are some clothes I snagged as the foundation to my winter wardrobe!
The last two years I’ve put “attend a fashion week” on my vision board and this year I as able to fulfill one of goals and attend a few events at this years Charlotte Fashion Week. I had been getting emails about this years events and came across an email about attending free as a blogger/media. Great news for me I quickly signed up and was granted complimentary to all the events that week.
Day 1 was a kick off event where the models, designers and media could network and have cocktails At a really nice restaurant in the heart of uptown Charlotte. A photographer named Laurence that I’ve been working with for the little over a year was in attendance and he made it his business to introduce me to all the models, designers and even the directors of Charlotte Fashion Week. I passed out so many business cards so I was pretty excited. Most of the designers had models strutting their stuff all night in their designs so it was cool to see a glimpse of what the runway would look like.
Day 2 was the first runway show. It was held at the Charlotte Country Club. It was a very elegant and regal set up. After arriving an hour early I was able to snag a couple photos with key people before the shown started. The theme of Charlotte Fashion Week 2015 was ‘Embracing the Ages’. In which all of the models were from different age groups they even had pets modeling in the fashion shows most of the clothing was made by designers or were items from boutiques or our favorite stores like H&M, BCBG and Banana Republic. The highlight of my two days of attending was meeting and having the opportunity to see a woman named Grazia Walker walk in the show. She is a spitting image of Iris Apfel the fashion icon, and I have the picture to prove it!
